Check Out VDAY 2010-11

>> Wednesday

VDAY is a stop violence against women campaign that started with the Vagina Monologues production. The Vagina Monologues were written by Eve Ensler a playwright, activist, and performer. Her work has been performed in over 130 countries and translated to over 40 languages. Since then year round different actresses come together to perform different skits, personal thoughts, and emotional highlights from The Vagina Monologues to audiences all over the country. They generally perform at college campuses, high schools, or just in the community. The goal is to spread social awareness to various groups of people about stopping violence against our women today. This refers to domestic violence, battery, incest, rape, objectification, and genital mutilation. This movement has even spread to Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Please take the time to read more about it at www.vday.org/home and find out when the next VDAY will be in your area. Also, you can read more about VDAY groups and projects like VMEN and the safe campus project. I went to a VDAY event on my college campus University of Tn at Chattanooga and it was amazing! This movement is huge and it will have an impact on anyone that takes the time to become a part of it.
